This image of a Western Bluebird perched on a branch is set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Grand Canyon. The minute bird was just a movement to my eye, such was the distance between us. I had to hunt it down through my lens as I had seen the movement around the tip of a tall dead tree which rose up from the lower depths of the canyon. The bird's vibrant blue and warm brown plumage contrasted beautifully against the canyon's earthy tones which presented here as a soft mauve bokeh. Known for their melodious songs and striking appearance, Western Bluebirds are a delight for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
