Here the beauty of Svalbard's ice landscape, where towering, paper-thin sheets of ice create a spectacle that seems almost otherworldly. The soft, ethereal blue hues of the ice lie in contrast with the muted tones of the surrounding landscape. The blue colour is the result of blue being the wavelength of light that reflects back to the eye from the ice, while the other longer wavelengths like red and yellow are absorbed by the ice.
