Cedar Breaks is at the highest point of the Grand Staircase, its beautiful amphitheatre magnificent to behold. It becomes extremely cold during the winter months with thick snowfall. A multitude of fauna and birdlife seem to thrive here although it would seem impossible for life to survive in these extremes of temperature. Spruce and Aspen dot the amphitheatre. Sleet falls in July, such is the effect of the very high altitude. As one gazes deep into the fascinating structures within the canyon, the variety of colours becomes evident, highlighted by the play of light whether sun or shadows crossing over. It is a rich tapestry of nature's beauty brought about by gigantic forces and movement of the earth's crust.
